In Japanese, Genmaicha means "natural rice tea." This specialty is made from nearly equal parts of Bancha tea and roasted or popped rice grains, creating a pleasantly sweet, slightly nutty flavor.
Brewing Instructions: 2-3 minutes, 176-194° F.

Discovered this tea years ago, served in a Japanese restaurant. They wouldn't say where they got it and would only sell a tiny bag to us for a rather steep price. Love the combination of the brightness of the green tea with the deeper mellow flavor of the toasted rice. This is umami in tea.
